People that have deafness and how they deal with it etc .work,daily living?

Work as a nurse and my hearing is going and hard to do my assigned duties and afraid I will lose my job. I worked as a nurse for 20 years. Doctors tell me I need cocklear implant but it will take 1 year to get. its impossible to use my phone at home . So I think I just like to know how other people with this problem get along with the pubic and how they deal with work and people thing you are rude when you don’t hear them. I have hearing aids and special cell phone ,but that does not help.If I lose my job,don’t know what assistance is out there.

Would wearing your hearing aids make your hearing loss get worse?

i hate wearing my hearing aids. i think in 1st grade i only lost hearing in my left ear but after i tested again this year i lost 50% in both ear! i havent wore my hearing aids in years. is that probaly the reason why my hearing loss got worse? when i wore them once in school this year everything was so LOUD! i couldnt stand it. i couldnt even hear my friend talk to me because of everything else around me.
also is there any way i could get back some of my hearing loss?

I really love acting, in spite of the fact that it is a difficult and cutthroat industry, but I think I have the right kind of temperament for it. I have thick skin, and I’m dedicated to what I love.

I also suffer from a hearing loss, and I’ve been mainstreamed (I’ve gone to a public non-deaf specified school, no deaf/hearing impaired only classes or support groups). I really want to act, but I’m unsure if I will only be able to the special tv episoide as the "deaf girl" (if that, because I don’t know ASL, don’t idenfity w/ deaf culture). I want to do work in this industry becasuse I love it, so how would I overcome typecasting, and be able to do the diffrent roles I want to? (The difficulty of getting a job in the first place put aside). When I say diffrent, I would like to know how I could get non-deaf/hearing impaired character roles, since (obviously) there is more roles under that out there.

Please help, I really am passionate about this, and I want to be an ACTRESS, not just a tv role whenever a girl from a hearing impaired family gets killed on law and order. I’m very serious about this!! I have an appointment set up w/ the ear doctor to see if I can get smaller hearing aids, so that it’ll be less of a obstacle to overcome.

BTW, I suffer from moderatly severe hearing loss, and the damage is in the nerve endings of my ear – meaning that it could only be fixed w/ stem cells.

Can I still enlist in the Air Force or Army with slight hearing loss?

I was born with a slight hearing loss but otherwise haven’t noticed it much. I was wondering if that disqualifies you? I’m not sure exactly how much loss there is but the most effect it’s had is I might not understand what someone says if I’m not paying attention to them, and when I was younger my parents were worried and decided to get me hearing aids but I never wore them at all.

Anyone suffer from a cookie bite hearing loss?

I have had a cookie bite hearing loss in both ears since birth. My mother was told I may be totally deaf by the time I turned 30. I am now 24 and my hearing has definitely deteriorated and I have had to ‘upgrade’ to more expensive hearing aids! My right ear is worse than my left. My question is what do you think the chances of me becoming completely deaf are? I have done so much research on this but haven’t been successful in finding an answer.

i am planning on having a baby with my girlfriend after we get married..she has perfect hearing but i was born with hearing loss and im hard of hearing meaning i always wear hearing aids to help me hear..Does this mean our baby will also be hard of hearing or deaf?

What have people with near total hearing loss to receive and hear phone conversations?
My 84-year old grandmother is deaf in one ear and has near-total hearing loss in the other. She wears hearing-aids but can not understand alot of words.
What appliances can you suggest (bonus: where can I purchase them online) that can assist in this particular situation? What can any one tell me about the ((CapTel is a Telephone)) the cost and how well it works? I miss talking with my grandma…HELP PLEASE

I just got called for Jury Duty but have hearing loss can that be a reason to not attend?

I am 24 years old and do wear hearing aids, but I still have hearing loss. Could that be a reason not to attend? On the notice it says that for a disability that a physician has to fill it out. I live in California if that helps, thanks.
