hi my mother told me since i was little i have nerve deafness. i was tested for this. she thinks its because of my ear infections.

i have had a few more infections as an adult. and i feel my hearing is getting worse.

my mother has told me there is nothing i can do because with nerve deafness you can wear a hearing aid, because some tones are permanently unavilable forever.

it is really annoying. and no one believes me that i am deaf. i have had to drop classes, it interferes with my social life, etc.

i was wondering if many years later there is any improvements with hearing loss such as the one i have and if i should make an appt with a dr.
sorry, i wasnt clear. my mother said the drs told her that my hearing loss does not improve with a hearing aid, because it is permanent.
all a hearing aid would do is elevate that which i already hear. there are tones in the world which i cant hear ever, not with a hearing aid or anything. this is what i was told.
its like swiss cheese hearing. i hear part of the conversation, but miss words. it throws my whole balance off. people think im being rude and not responding to them. im trying to piece together what they said.
im going to ask the dr about an implant. sounds really disgusting though i have to admit.

random deafness in ear followed by high pitch ringing?

lately i’ve noticed my one ear acting strage. randomly in the middle of doing anything i will feel the sound in my left ear fade out and then just hear a really high pitched ringing sound for a few seconds. when this is happening everything else fades out and all i can focus on is the noise. it only happens breifly but its really scary when it does happen.
does anyone know what the cause of this is or has had the same thing happen?

Are there any neurological diseases which cause hearing loss?

I am currently under neurological investigation for many symptoms. Cognitive impairment, muscle tremors, muscle weakness, fatigue and headaches. I have recently experienced hearing loss in my right ear with feelings of pain and pressure in it. I went to a doctor and they saw no signs of infection so I am now assuming this problem is tied into my other problems. Can hearing loss be a symptom of neurological illness and if so is it permanent? Could it be a symptom of nerve damage. Any help really appreciated, thanks

I recently was at a gub range and had a poor ear protection gear. My left side ear is 82 percent, unable to hear.
Will it recovers by itself?
